It was that time of the year...
time to get out our old boxes and
buy way too much duct tape!
3rd ward's annual
cardboard boat race party
was held at Huntington Reservoir
on Thursday, August 9th.
The weather was nice, dinner was fantastic,
and the cardboard was ready to float!
(Or in some cases, completely fail.)
(Or in some cases, completely fail.)
Braedon was the proud captain
of the Primary Pirate ship.
Sure, that thing looks pretty simple,
but it worked like a charm.
Brother & Sister Wood,
our wonderful Valiant 8 teachers,
may or may not have cheated
(not that they'd ever do such a thing)
by covering their wave runner in cardboard!
Just look at that beast! (The boat, not Bro. Wood.)
Everyone was scratching their heads at the mere size of it,
until they revved up the engine and took off
before the race even started... leaving chunks of
cardboard flying everywhere.
Launching the boats:
The Primary Pirate sailed a strong course...
...but it was no match for the Banasky Brothers
and their cremation box of speed!
These boys were like professional
cardboard boat racers. (Why is this not
part of the summer olympics!?)
By the last leg, the Primary Pirate
was looking kind of shabby, drooping in the middle...
but it made it back to the docks, unlike some
poor, unfortunate McFarlanes you see on the left. :)
Good times with 3rd ward!
